You and the children can also enjoy visiting and feeding our many animals; including chickens, pigs, goats. Schedule
During 2010, train rides run from mid September - October on Saturday & Sundays only between 11am - 3pm.

Cost
Train rides cost $5 per adult; $3 for children 12 and under; children under 2 ride free.


Spring & Summer Educational School Field Trips

Objective:
Watt Farms Country Market's tour guides will provide an enjoyable educational tour, especially designed for children K-3rd grade. In Spring, children will be given age-appropriate lessons on honey-making, operating a greenhouse, spring orchard care and take a plant home that they have planted in the greenhouse. In the Summer, children will be given age-appropriate lessons on pollination, honey-making, fruit growing and fruit handling.

Program:
Fun in the Hay Maze The Children will:
  • Enjoy a 25-minute ride through our 100 acre orchard on our 90 foot train! This narrated journey will teach them how we prepare the orchard in blossom, or how we prepare the fruit we harvest
  • In springtime, visit our greenhouse and plant a plant to take home and watch grow OR in summertime, pick fresh fruit
  • Visit our farm animals
  • Have the opportunity to picnic and play after your tour.

Time:
Tours are offered Monday through Friday, May through August starting at 10:00 and last about an hour and 20 minutes.

Take Home:
    Field Trips at Watt's Country Market
  • In springtime, a plant they have planted, OR in summertime, the fruit they have picked
  • In springtime, the knowledge about how a greenhouse operates, OR in summertime, the knowledge about how fruit grows and the workings of an orchard
  • Lots of great memories!
Price:
$6.00 for each person (student and parent). Two teachers or PAID school staff (2 per class) are free. There is a minimum charge of $175 for groups of 29 or less. Please pay for your group tour upon arrival.

Lunch:
Everyone is welcome to bring a bagged lunch. There are picnic tables under the train station pavilion and time for lunch has been allotted in your tour.

We will be glad to prepare a hot dog, chips and drink lunch for $4.00 each. Please let us know which option you would like to choose 3-4 days before your visit.

Fun in the Hay Maze Ice Cream:
Kiddie ice cream cones or slushies are also available for $1 each. The choices are Vanilla, Twist or Chocolate. The sprinkles are on us, we will give you a bowl at the outside window that you can assist each child with.

Weather:
Weather always varies, so it's best to have the children dress in layers. There are no weather related refunds.

Cancellations:
If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled tour, we would appreciate your cooperation in giving us as much notice as possible, but at least 2 weeks notice, so that we may fill your appointment time. Call 585-589-8000 or 1-800-274-5897 and ask for Lauren or Karen.

Making Apple Cider

Program:
The Children will:
  • Enjoy a ride through our 100 acre orchard on our 90 foot train! This narrated journey will teach them how we prepare the fruit we harvest.
  • Fall trip: Pick about 2 pounds of fresh crisp apples -OR- pick their own pumpkin from our pumpkin patch (your preference)
  • Learn about the importance of bees in growing fruit.
  • Visit our farm animals.
  • Play in our straw maze.
  • Have the opportunity to picnic after your tour.

Time:
Hay Maze Entrance Tours are offered Monday through Friday, September through October, starting at 10:00am and last about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Take Home:
  • A bag of apples or a pumpkin they have picked.
  • Knowledge about how apples grow and the work of an orchard.
  • An understanding of the relationship of honeybees to an orchard.
  • Lots of great memories.

Watt Farms Orchard Train Group Tours:

Join us for a unique 1/2 hour train ride on the World's Largest Orchard Train, Watt's Orchard Express. Our 90 ft train, easily accommodates over 50 adults winding its way through our 100 acres surrounding a 3 acre pond, home to our ducks and geese. Our conductor narrates a history of our farm and information about our farming operation. Orchard Train Tours are available May through October. Group train rides cost $5.00 per person. The tour operator and bus driver are free ($175 minimum). If you would like to pick fruit in season, cost is an additional $3 per person, and the train stops in the orchard where you pick a pint of fruit to keep. Please refer to this brief seasonal fruit schedule:

  • Early July: Sweet Cherries
  • Mid - late July: Raspberries & Apricots
  • Mid July - Sept: Peaches
  • Mid July - August: Plums
  • Mid August - Sept: Nectarines
  • Late Aug - Oct: Apples & Pears

  • After your train tour, browse our Country Gift Shop filled with over 3,000 sq. feet of gifts for all ages.
  • You have to try some of our Homemade Fudge! Sales of over 80,000 pounds of this sweet treat are a testament to its quality. Over 25 flavors of Fudge on hand at all times. Our specialty is Chocolate Raspberry Swirl made with our own Royalty purple raspberries picked at the farm. Free samples for everybody!
  • Enjoy our 2,000 sq. ft ice cream shoppe, an air conditioned, indoor seating area. 32 flavors of Ice Cream and Frozen Custard for those warm summer days.
  • Visit the animal Barn where you can feed chickens, pigs, and goats among other animals.
  • For your convenience, our market has separate indoor ladies and men's bathrooms.
